⛅ The Unwritten Rules of a Happy Life
3 minutes (or less) to improve your well-being and make Monday's awesome
Happy Monday!
Work gave me a good cleavin’ today, so I’m sending this newsletter out a little later than usual. Hope you enjoy this week’s On Cloud Nine :)
No matter what you believe, I think we can both agree that the greater goal of life is to be happy. Here are my unwritten rules for living a happy life:
Happiness starts with you. You have to be happy with yourself before you can appreciate the world for what it is. Exercise. Sleep well. Eat healthy. Be a good person. Change your self-talk.
Spread happiness to others. Don’t rob someone else of happiness for personal gain. Give selflessly. Help those in need. Making others happy is one of the best damn feelings in the world.
Learn to love the highs and lows. You’re never going to be perpetually happy or sad. Bask in the beauty when you’re feeling on top of the world, and when you’re not, remember the happy times to get you through. Don’t fight the ebb and flow of your emotions.
Stop and smell the roses. Everyone’s searching for the next dose of happiness when it’s usually something simple right in front of their noses.
Love fully. Life’s too short to be scared of one of life’s greatest treasures. Get hurt? Learn from it and move on to the next. Don’t lose hope.
Live true. Life’s complicated living on a bed of lies. Always strive for the truth.
Expriences over stuff. Beyond the essentials, material items offer marginal and acute happiness. Experiences yield memories. Memories last a life time.
Negativity is the thief of joy. Are you a negative Nancy? See #1 above. Know a negative Nancy? Reconsider your relationship. It’s always OK to remove negativity from your life.
Less is more. Do less so that you can focus more on what’s important to you and what makes you happy. Have less so that you can appreciate the few things that you do have more.
Have a good (no, great) week.
Best,
Jason
